A Message From Our Rodeo Chairman, Mike Rocko

I would like to invite everyone to come to our Wild Wild West Rodeo this year June 21 & 22, 2024. Rodeo has always been a large part of our western heritage here in the Southwest. During the era of the cattle drives ranch-versus-ranch contests began to spring up with cowboys and vaqueros testing their skills against each other. These contests eventually lead to the events you will see during the Wild Wild West Rodeo. The roping events were used to brand and treat injured animals. Cowboys and vaqueros often tamed and broke wild horses which led to the standard saddle bronc, bareback and bull riding that we see today.

My family has participated in Rodeo ever since I can remember. My children & Grandchildren are learning from the great family atmosphere in Rodeo. The sharing of knowledge & patriotic devotion are second to no other sport. The Southwest Horseman’s Association hopes to continue this great tradition in Grant County for years to come!

For any rodeo to be successful it takes the support of the community, sponsors, volunteers, and fans. I urge our rodeo fans and contestants alike to support and thank our sponsors who support rodeo in Grant County!

Mike Rocko, Wild Wild West Rodeo Chairman
